Q: What is expected of me as a member of NAHB ASU?
A: We require you to attend Monday night meetings which are held at the USE building along with industry guest speaker presentations.
Q: What do I need to do as a member to be able to participate in the HBI Four-Year Competition?
A: We require 80% attendance to all meetings, 24 hours of community service to be completed each semester, and 2 hours of weekly work put in toward the competition proposal. While it may seem like a lot of requirements the club will provide group community service activities that tend to more of a good time than a hassle and simply ask that you dedicate your self to make ASU a success in the competition.
Q: Why should I choose this club over other construction clubs?
A: As an organization we provide our members the opportunity to learn about the residential industry through real world experience, gained from working on our annual competition project, industry speakers, and industry field trips. Additionally, we never force our members to participate in activities that don't adhere to our mission, preparing our members the industry they are about to enter. We have found that NAHB members are generally more experienced with construction projects and have more industry connections then members of other campus clubs.
Q: How much will it cost me to participate in the annual competition at the International Builders Show?
A: the only cost that we ask our members to incur is the annual $25 membership fee, which includes a club t-shirt and National NAHB dues. The national competition is funded by obtaining outside sponsorship.
Q: What else does the club participate in besides the annual competition?
A: We have guest speakers come and discuss their particular specialties in the field, we do hands on volunteer work to help the community, and also have club socials to build team camaraderie.
Q: What are the qualifications to join the club?
A: There are no restrictions on membership. Anyone, in any major can join our team.
Q: I want to sponsor, but can't give a monetary donation at this time. Can I still help?
A: Yes! Speakers, project help, or anything to help us grow as construction majors would be a great benefit to our members and the success of our competition.
