The Home Builders Institute is the sponsoring organization of the 4-Year Residential Competition that we as an NAHB Student Chapter participate in every year as well as our main governing body. The Home Builders Institute is the workforce development arm of the National Association of Home Builders, is dedicated to the advancement and enrichment of education and training programs serving the needs of the building industry.
For more than 30 years, HBI has trained skilled workers in residential construction, promoted the industry as a career and helped the NAHB membership address its need for qualified employees. The NAHB Student Chapters Program is housed under the HBI Residential Construction Academy, and funded by NAHB, corporate partners, and student member dues, the NAHB Student Chapters program helps to enrich the educational experience of students enrolled in construction-related fields such as construction management, engineering, architecture, real estate, and the trades.
Chapters are located at high schools, vocational and technical schools, community colleges (two-year programs), and universities (four-year programs) across the country. Students are given first-hand exposure to the "real-world" of the home building industry. NAHB student membership gives the students an invaluable complement to their academic studies.
